Baby Due Date
How is Due Date Calculated?
Most doctors calculate your due date (EDD) as 280 days from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). This method is known as Naegele's Rule. It assumes a regular 28-day cycle. If your cycle is longer or shorter, our calculator adjusts for that automatically.
Calculation Methods
- Last Period (LMP): The most common method used by OB/GYNs.
- Conception Date: If you know the exact date of ovulation or conception (common with IVF).
First Trimester
Weeks 1 – 12
Rapid development, heart beat visible.
Second Trimester
Weeks 13 – 26
Baby movement felt, gender reveal.
Third Trimester
Weeks 27 – 40+
Final growth, preparation for birth.
Note: Only about 4% of babies are born on their exact due date. Most are born within the two weeks before or after.
